〈NEW〉Now accepting recommended applications from local universities for the 2025 Academia Sinica Scholar Award

The 2025 Academia Sinica (AS) Scholar Award (the Award) is now accepting recommended applications from local universities. Interested applicants must submit required documents by specified deadlines. Late submissions will not be accepted.

  • Applicants from local universities must be on a recommended list of up to five candidates submitted by their affiliated universities to AS by May 31, 2024.
  • Recommended applicants from local universities must submit their letters of intent through the “Academic Services Management System” of AS (https://asms.sinica.edu.tw/) from now until May 31, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • AS will provide the results of the letter of intent review by June 30, 2024. Applicants who have passed the review should submit their complete project proposals online by July 31, 2024.

Instructions:

  • The procedures are in accordance with the Pilot Guidelines for the Academia Sinica Scholar Award.
  • Applicants from local universities must be on a recommended list of up to five candidates submitted by their affiliated universities to AS. Up to six Awards will be awarded to applicants from local universities.
  • The Award supports individual research projects in the fields of physical and mathematical sciences, life sciences, and humanities and social sciences. Applicants are required to submit a project proposal based on their research expertise. The project period is five years. External awardees are allowed to apply for renewal once.
  • Announcement of the Awards is tentatively scheduled for November 2024. The approved projects will commence from January 2025 after the official budget is approved. Prior to commencing the Award project, the awardee, serving as the Principal Investigator (Project PI), is required to sign an execution agreement with AS.
  • Any research project involving biological and/or genetically engineered materials, animal experiments or human subjects must obtain approval from the appropriate authorized AS committees. If the official approval document cannot be submitted at the time of application, proof of having applied for approval must be provided instead.
  • Recommended applicants from local universities must submit required documents through the “Academic Services Management System” of AS (https://asms.sinica.edu.tw/).
