Core Facilities and Innovative Instrument Project
To ensure effectiveness in research resource utilization, enhance the quality of core facility services, and encourage development in innovative instruments, the Core Facilities and High-value Instrument Management Committee was established in 2017, and Guidelines for Applications for Funding from the Core Facility and Innovative Instrument Program formulated accordingly. Since 2019, funding support for all AS core facilities has been provided based on the peer review of project proposals.
Approved projects should provide core facility services to meet shared research requirements across each department at Academia Sinica. Furthermore, the service demand and technological advancement of the supported core facility should reach a certain level. Approved projects will receive funding for instrument purchase and maintenance.
During the duration of the project, reports on service performance and annual progress should be submitted for review. Approval of these reports by the Core Facilities and High-value Instrument Management Committee and related User Committees will help ensure continued project funding for future years. These procedures are taken to periodically review the utilization of research resources, and as an effort to provide researchers with the best core facilities services.
