TIGP-X Program
Program Description
- Goals: Support international Ph.D. research to foster academic collaboration and grow our talent pool.
- Outcomes: Strengthen co-advisor partnerships and produce joint publications to showcase collaborative success.
Criteria
- The applicant (AS-PI) has already set up collaboration with the Thesis Advisor at Home University of the student.
- The applicant (AS-PI) is willing to host the student and serve as Co-advisor while he/she stays in Taiwan.
- The applicant (AS-PI) is willing to provide a monthly stipend to the student.
Three Roles in the TIGP-X and Their Responsibilities
- Role 1: Co-advisor at Academia Sinica, who is an Academia Sinica PI responsible for hosting the International PhD Student and is also an applicant for TIGP-X.
- Role 2: International PhD Student, who will stay in Taiwan for a period ranging from three months to three years to conduct research under the supervision of Co-advisor at Academia Sinica during his/her thesis study.
- Role 3: Student's Thesis Advisor at Home University, who should continue working with Co-advisor at Academia Sinica to monitor the thesis study of the International PhD student.
There are two funding modes for this program.
The student may be selected as a recipient of either "The 1st Category - Academia Sinica Fellowship for International Doctoral Student", or "The 2nd Category - Academia Sinica International Doctoral Student".
The 1st Category Fellowship
If the student is outstanding and awarded "Academia Sinica Fellowship for International Doctoral Student", he/she will receive a monthly fellowship of NT$34,000 from Academia Sinica. As the Co-advisor, you'll provide the student with an additional monthly fellowship of NT$16,000.
The 2nd Category Fellowship
If the student is named as an "Academia Sinica International Doctoral Student", he/she will receive a monthly fellowship from you in accordance with the "Guidelines for Academia Sinica Scholarship Payments” (NT$ 34,000 per month recommended)
