[Call for Proposals] 2027 1st Round Academia Sinica Grand Challenge Program Seed Grant

Applications are now being accepted for the 2027 1st Round Academia Sinica Grand Challenge Program Seed Grant (GCS). Applicants should submit their proposals through the Academia Sinica Academic Service Management System (ASMS) (https://asms.sinica.edu.tw/) no later than 5:00 PM (Taipei Time), September 15, 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.

Please note the following:

  • Ideas and approaches that largely overlap with those to be tested against the specific problem addressed in this seed grant proposal should not be included in any full grant proposal submitted, (or to be submitted) in the same year to any other competitive Academia Sinica grant programs. "Grant proposals considered overlapping with a previous submission" will be triaged without review.
  • Complete the required information online, including the project category, title, executive summary, keywords, the requested budget, and the current and pending support for each PI and co-PI. Any false or misleading information provided in the application materials may adversely affect the review outcome and constitute a violation of research integrity.
  • Announcement of the application results is tentatively scheduled for December 2026. The approved projects will commence from January 2027. All Project PIs and Co-PIs must sign the GCS Project Execution Agreement before the project commences.
  • Approval from the relevant AS units must be obtained before commencing any research projects involving biological and/or genetically engineered materials, animal experiments, or human subjects. If the approved documentation is not available at the time of application, proof that it is being reviewed will be accepted provisionally. However, the approved documentation must be provided before the project commences.
